France prop Sylvain Marconnet was on Friday ruled out of the Six Nations match against Wales in Cardiff next weekend.
The identity of the veteran international's replacement will be announced on Sunday after this weekend's French Top 14 programme, a French team source revealed.
Marconnet came off the bench early in the second half in last Saturday's 33-10 win over Ireland in Paris but had to be replaced seven minutes from time after picking up a right leg injury.
Team-mate Vincent Clerc, who emerged from the win against Ireland with a left ankle problem, will be put through his paces to determine his readiness for Cardiff early next week.
The Toulouse wing is receiving treatment at the French team's training headquarters in Marcoussis.
The France squad for Wales will be officially announced on Monday morning.
France and England, with two wins apiece, are leading the Six Nations table.
