Racing-Metro prop Clement Baiocco was called up on Saturday to replace injured veteran Sylvain Marconnet in the France squad for the Six Nations match with Wales next Friday.
It is the first time 30-year-old Baiocco - who joined Racing-Metro from Montpellier at the beginning of the season - has been called into the international squad.
The French later suffered another blow as flanker Fulgence Ouedraogo was forced to pull out with a calf injury and was replaced by once-capped Alexandre Lapandry of Clermont, who played for all the 80 minutes of his club's 45-18 thrashing of Top 14 tailenders Albi on Saturday.
French wing Alexis Palisson looks certain to travel to Wales according to France coach Marc Lievremont despite not having trained during the week after he suffered bruising to a knee when he was kicked by Irish hooker Jerry Flannery in last Saturday's 33-10 thumping of the 2009 Grand Slam winners.
A decision will be taken on Sunday about whether his fellow wing Vincent Clerc has recovered well enough from a left ankle injury, also suffered in the Irish match.
"His injury is coming along nicely," said Lievremont, who is looking to win a third successive match for the first time since he took over at the helm after the 2007 World Cup.
"He has a good chance of playing but he has to be able to take part in training on Monday."
The starting XV is due to be named on Monday.
